PROCESS
The first thing, getting to know my clients. That's really what inspires my work: who they truly are in real life, challenges and all. Chatting over a cup of tea or coffee is personally my favorite way to start! We talk about life and dreams and discover the best way to capture their story.

Film is my favorite medium as an artist; it is capable of wonderful tones, texture, and can have amazing resilience with light. My digital Canon SLR camera also comes along with me to most of my shoots; it's especially valued for the flexibility and speed it lends. I love both color and black and white photographs for their respective attributes- color stands out to me as realistic and vibrant, while black and white can be timeless and deeply moving.

My clients get a digital version of their photos as well as some form of a physical product. A print in your hand or hanging on your wall brings a sense of completion to the art of photography. Our lives are beautifully much more dimensional than flat pixels on a screen.

BIO

Some of my fondest memories are of sorting through vintage prints of my family and getting a glimpse into their lives through the image as well as the type of paper and its age. My journey in photography began over fifteen years ago out of my fascination with astronomy. I wanted to capture what I was observing in the night sky. Soon after, I was given my first film SLR camera. Taking time to learn how to use my camera allowed me to observe the details in life going on around me. People in my small country town quickly captured my attention. I was then on a path that would impact the rest of my life.

Electing real-world experience outside of high school, instead of the common plunge into college, I landed an assistant role at a local studio and improved my skills by observation and practice. Photography became an avenue to help and encourage those who couldn't afford to have a portrait made. Before I knew it I was also getting hired for my own wedding & portrait services. Not long after, I began college and studied psychology, art, and visual communications. The following years lent me great experience as an artist and communicator. Now my vision is to reach out to the world with stories of life.

 

When reflecting on my own life, I wouldn't be who I am today without Jesus Christ, my savior, and redeemer. Seeking God is the avenue by which photography came into my life. He holds my deepest identity before any occupation. Capturing you, most prized in creation, as those who reflect his image and his creative glory is my great honor!
